Are you interested in becoming Catholic? Click here to watch a video...
The process of becoming a Catholic is called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) and the Rite of Christian Initiation adapted for Children (R.C.I.C.). It is for non-baptized persons and for baptized persons of Christian denominations. The R.C.I.A. process starts with weekly Inquiry meetings in September. These meetings are designed to help the person wanting to become a Catholic to obtain answers about the church in order to help the individual discern the extent of his/her call. We also invite persons baptized in the Catholic faith tradition who have not received the sacrament(s) of Confirmation and/or Eucharist.
The R.C.I.A. process continues with weekly meetings in October and comes to a completion with the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation, that is, Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist during Easter time followed by a period of Mystagogia. The formal process ends approximately at Pentecost. If you or someone you know, is interested in joining our Catholic faith, please contact Trisha Labbe at (985) 345-3360, ext. 28 or tlabbe@hgchurch.org.
