Special Skills From time to
time, Holy Ghost is in need of volunteers to help with small
maintenance and construction projects on campus. If you have
some type of special skill your help may be called upon. This
ministry will give us a master list of names and skills.

Parish Council
The Holy Ghost Parish Council is appointed by the pastor
with recommendations from the current counsel members. This group
meets on a monthly basis to provide advice and give recommendations
to the pastor on a number of pertinent issues.

Welcoming Committee This is a
new ministry at Holy Ghost Parish. We want to establish a
committee to welcome new members to our parish. Since this is
a new ministry, you will have a great deal of input on ways to
welcome new families.

Bereavement Committee Members
reach out to the family of the recently deceased. The contact
person takes the call and gets a team captain to take charge.
The captain arranges with the family to meet their needs.
Visits to the wake or their home may be made but food is prepared
for the day of the funeral.

After Mass Receptions During
special gatherings and during liturgical seasons, there are times we
have after Mass socials. This ministry would help coordinate
these gatherings and provide snacks and refreshments for those
attending the gathering.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)

RCIA Team
The RCIA team welcomes individuals wanting to become
Catholic. The team helps prepare meetings, plan lessons, and send
flyers to all candidates /
Catechumenates. They attend Monday night meetings on a weekly
basis and attend all retreats and help plan them.
RCIA Sponsor
RCIA Sponsors walk the faith journey with Candidates
/ Catechumenates who will be joining the Catholic Church. They also
provide support and information to our candidates and catechumenates.
Holy Ghost Fair
Committee Each spring the
highlight for the season is the Holy Ghost Fair. The fair is
one of the largest school fundraisers and volunteers are always
needed to help the fair run smoothly.

Religious Organizations These
organizations plan an important role in our parish. Each of
these groups works for the betterment of our faith community and
these groups are: The Catholic Daughters The Knights of

Society
Tangi Food Pantry Tangi Food
Pantry collects food and funds from the community, business, and
congregations and use these donations to feed those in need on both
emergency and continuing basis. Food is available on Tuesdays
and Thursdays each week from 1 pm to 4 pm. Volunteers are
needed to serve 600 to 800 each month.

Restoration House The
Restoration House serves single pregnant women who have no other
place to live. This house is supported by area churches as
well as Holy Ghost Church. This ministry helps to meet the
needs of the women by providing volunteers and helping to arrange
for certain items they need.

Tangi Cares
Tangi Cares is a part of the Baton Rouge Diocese's Catholic
Community Services. This organization helps to provide food and
emergency funds for the less fortunate in our area.
St. Vincent DePaul
The local chapter of the St. Vincent DePaul Society is a
ministry to help the less fortunate in our church parish and city.
The St. Vincent DePaul Society helps with families in an emergency
situation when temporary funds are needed. The St. Vincent DePaul
operates a Thrift Store on North Morrison Blvd. in Hammond.

Tangi Daily Bread Tangi
Daily Bread provides hot meals for low income families. These
families are identified and welcomed at the Tangi Daily Bread
facility on Chestnut Street in Hammond.

This ministry is gathering of small groups to share their faith
experience. The small faith communities meet at their convenience
for this sharing experience.

Prayer Line The power of
prayer is awesome. This ministry is a prayer line whereby we
pray for special intentions of our parishioners. As a member
of this ministry, you will receive a call with the prayer intention,
then you are asked to call another person to pray for that
intention. We will let you know in advance of who will be
calling you and who you should call.

Choir Holy Ghost has 2 active
choirs. There is a choir for every age and musical interest. Each choir sings for
a specific Eucharistic Celebration on Sundays, some Holy Days,
special celebrations, Holy week Celebrations, and other Ecumenical
services. The traditional and children's choir sings for the 9:30 am
Celebrations on Sunday and rehearses every Wednesday evening.
The Youth Choir sings for 5:00 pm Celebrations on Sunday with
rehearsal prior to the service.

Childrens'
Church The Children's
Church Ministry introduces children from pre-Kindergarten age to the
Second Grade to the Holy Ghost Community through group participation
in song, prayer, bible stories and playtime. Team teachers
present short lessons with main focus on God and his many
gifts. Introduction to prayer, Old and New Testament Bible
Stories, Activity Sheets, Songs, Games, Crafts, and PlayTime.

Ushers The
ushers are a vital part of the Mass. Ushers are responsible
for the first and second collections, selecting families to bring up
the offertory and finding seats for the congregation during crowded
Masses.

Schedule From fifth grade
to adults, altar servers work in conjunction with the
Celebrant. During the course of the Mass altar servers are
part of the entrance procession and prepare the altar for the
Eucharistic among their many duties.

Planning For each

Sacramental Preparation
Preparation for the Sacraments has taken on a whole new
responsibility and urgency in the Catholic Church. Holy Ghost offers
preparation instruction for the following sacraments: Baptism,
Reconciliation, First Communion, Marriage, and Confirmation. Please

Liturgical Environment
A big part of liturgical celebrations is the liturgical
environment. This committee works closely with the Liturgy Planning
Committee to decorate the church for the various celebrations
throughout the year.

PSR Catechist /
Teacher A catechist is
one who is willing to serve the community by sharing and passing on
the faith tradition of our Church. Catechist work with various
ages and are supported in their ministry through on-going formation
and instruction regarding the message of the gospel that they
share.
PSR Catechist / Teacher
Assistant Assistants to
PSR catechists also serve the community by sharing their faith with
young people. They are also involved in on-going instruction
and formation and assist with lessons, crafts, music, and class
management. Assistants allow for more intimate interaction
between catechist and students.
PSR Substitute
Catechist Ideally a substitute plans with
catechists so that stepping in to teach the lesson is
pre-organized. However, a substitute could present an
independent lesson, for example Sunday's readings, when the
catechist must be absent.
Vacation Bible School Each
Summer, Holy Ghost sponsors a week-long Vacation Bible School. The
Holy Ghost Vacation Bible School is set up for children pre-k
through 4th Grade.
